May Li, PhD, is a professor of linguistics with Tongji University, China and vice chairman of Shanghai Science & Technology Translation Society. Prior to starting her teaching career, she worked as editor of English programs with Anhui People’s Broadcasting Station, Anhui Province, China. Her first contact with TC dated back to her days in the UK when she co-translated user manuals for Molins, a cigarette maker manufacturer. She has taught TC courses (formerly known as Practical English Writing) for over ten years and tried innovative teaching approaches in course design, content and assessment. She has built close link with the industry and managed to get industry supervisors actively involved in student learning process.
