Associate professor of Professional and Technical Writing at University of Dayton. Xiaoli received her Ph. D in Rhetorics, Communication and Information Design from Clemson University in 2011. Her research and teaching interests include international technical communication with a focus on China; technical communication pedagogy and program development and administration. She regularly presents at annual conferences of Association for Business Communication (ABC), Association for Teachers of Technical Writing (ATTW), and Council for Programs in Technical and Scientific Communication (CPTSC). Her scholarly work has appeared in IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, Business and Professional Communication Quarterly, Connexion-International Professional Communication Journal, and the WAC Journal. She is keen on promoting the development of technical communication in China as a profession and a discipline. Xiaoli currently teaches Professional and Technical Writing in Global Contexts, Writing for the Web, Usability and User Experience Design in Technical Writing, Technical Communication, Business Communication, writing seminar on China’s Middle Class, and graduate seminar on Professional and Technical Writing. She also teaches those courses at University of Dayton China Institute in Suzhou and England, Ireland, Austria and Germany when she leads the UD Study Abroad programs.
